Samuel Johnson said it about himself in 1784, and it has not lost its bite since. The line arches over a teapot that clearly agrees with him: monocle on, steam curling up like it's rehearsing a speech.
No apology in it anywhere. Just a pot that knows exactly what it is and one very old, very quotable insult turned into a badge of honour.
