For the purpose of applicable data protection laws, we are the data controller of your personal information.

Marketplace orders and order fulfilment

Ostrich Designs (a trading name of The A2Z Stores Ltd) also sells through online marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay and Etsy. When you order through a marketplace, we receive your name, your delivery address, and a contact phone number where the marketplace provides one. That is all: we do not receive or store your payment details, and where a marketplace provides an email address it is usually an anonymised relay address, which we do not store.

We use this information for one purpose only: to produce your order and deliver it to you (the "performance of a contract" basis under UK GDPR). It is not used for marketing, profiling, or advertising, and it is never sold.

Marketplace order information is processed and stored on secure, encrypted systems in the Amazon Web Services London region, so your data stays in the United Kingdom while in our hands. We share your name and delivery address only with the printing and delivery partner that produces and posts your order, who is required to protect it under data protection law.

Order personal details are deleted from our systems within 30 days of dispatch. Our security backups are encrypted and expire automatically within 7 days, so deleted details leave our backups shortly afterwards. Records of the order itself (what was bought and when) are kept for accounting, but contain no address or phone number.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, connected through Shopify's Google & YouTube channel. It only runs once you accept analytics cookies in our cookie banner; if you decline, it does not load. It measures things like which pages get visited and how people found the site. Google anonymises your IP address before it is stored. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.

Security

We use Cloudflare Turnstile on our search box, to tell real visitors from bots. It runs a quick, invisible check when you search. Cloudflare's privacy policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

Personalised photo uploads

If you upload a photo for a personalised product, it is stored with Cloudflare, in the EU. We only use it to make your order. It is deleted 120 days after upload. If you would like it deleted sooner, email colin@ostrich-designs.com.

Marketing emails

You can sign up for our newsletter in the footer of our site. We send about one email a month, through Shopify Email. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw your consent at any time.

Payment

Payment is handled by Shop Pay and Shopify Payments, which sets a cookie (shop.app) during checkout. Shopify's privacy policy is at shopify.com/legal/privacy.

Fulfilment processors

We share your name and delivery address with Royal Mail and our print partner, so they can make and deliver your order. They use it for that purpose only.

Advertising pixels

We use advertising tools from Pinterest, TikTok and Google, connected through their Shopify sales channels. They only run once you accept marketing cookies in our cookie banner; if you decline, they do not load. When they run, they set a cookie and tell that platform which pages you visited, what you added to your basket and what you bought, so the platform can measure whether one of its adverts led to a sale and can show you our products again on its own site. At checkout, your email address may be sent to the platform in a hashed (scrambled) form so it can match the sale to an advert. We never send your card details or your delivery address.

You can opt out of personalised advertising on each platform directly: Pinterest at pinterest.com/settings/privacy, TikTok at tiktok.com/legal/ads-and-your-data, and Google at adssettings.google.com. You can opt out across many advertisers at once at youronlinechoices.eu or optout.aboutads.info. If you accepted marketing cookies here and change your mind, the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page reopens the banner, or email colin@ostrich-designs.com and we will help. Their privacy policies are at policy.pinterest.com/privacy-policy, tiktok.com/legal/privacy-policy and policies.google.com/privacy.
