Printed mugs get a bad name from a small number of bad ones. Somebody buys a novelty mug from a market stall, the design goes patchy after a few washes, and from then on they assume every printed mug does that. It is worth separating what is actually true of a well made mug from what is just a memory of a cheap one.
Dishwasher and microwave, properly
Every mug we sell is ceramic, with a glossy finish, holding 11oz (325ml). It is dishwasher and microwave safe, and the design is printed on both sides, not wrapped round one side and left blank on the other. That is the whole claim, and it is the one we stand behind: not "handle with care", not "top rack only", just dishwasher and microwave safe.
The mug that faded on someone's shelf was very likely never sold as dishwasher safe in the first place, or was sold that way without much behind the claim. That is a different product to this one, whatever the listing said at the time. Here the claim is specific rather than reassuring: ceramic, glossy, 11oz, dishwasher and microwave safe, printed on both sides. If any of those turns out not to be true of a mug you receive, that is a fault, not a feature you missed.
Printing both sides also means there is no blank half hiding round the back, waiting to be the side you grab by mistake. Whichever way the handle lands, there is a design facing you.
Printed when you order it
Nothing in the shop is sitting on a shelf waiting to go slightly out of date. A mug is printed once you order it. Order by 2pm on a weekday, or 10am on a Saturday, and it is posted the same day, tracked, with free UK delivery, so you can see where it is on the way.
What "made specifically for you" changes about returns
If you simply change your mind about an ordinary mug, you have 14 days from delivery to send it back. Personalised mugs work differently: once we have printed a name or initial onto one, it is made specifically for you, and it is excluded from that change-of-mind window. That is not the same as no protection at all. If a mug arrives faulty, or the wrong one turns up, you do not pay to return it and we will put it right, personalised or not.
None of this is about defending printed mugs in general. It is about being clear on what is actually printed on yours: a glossy ceramic mug, both sides, dishwasher and microwave safe, printed when you order it and looked after if something goes wrong. Everything else is a different product wearing the same name.
So the short version, if you only wanted the short version: yes to the dishwasher, yes to the microwave, no to sending it back once your name is on it, yes to a refund or replacement if it turns up broken or wrong.
