A personalised mug is an easy gift to buy and an easy gift to get wrong. The ones that end up at the back of the cupboard are usually the ones where the personalising was the whole idea and the mug itself was an afterthought. The ones that get used every morning are the ones where someone typed a name, and that was it.
Start with what you are typing, not what you are choosing
Most personalised ranges work the same way underneath: you pick a design, then you type a name or a couple of initials into a box. The design decides how much room there is for that text, so the honest question is not "which mug looks nicest" but "whose name am I typing, and how long is it". A mug meant for a Josephine needs more room than one meant for a Jo, and a good range accounts for that before you ever reach checkout.
What you type is what gets printed. There is no proofing step where someone quietly corrects your spelling, and no reason there should be: it is your gift, in your words, for the person you are buying it for. If a name will not fit or the request cannot be printed as sent, that gets held and checked by a person rather than guessed at and printed wrong.
Pick the occasion, then the style
A first-name mug for a colleague reads differently to an initial mug for a partner, and both read differently to a milestone mug for someone turning a big age. The occasion narrows the choice more usefully than the colour does: a leaving gift wants a name and nothing else, a birthday wants the age to do some of the work, and a "just because" gift can carry more personality than either.
None of that is about the joke. If the design already says something funny, let it say it. The typed name is there to make it personal, not to add a second punchline on top of the first one.
What actually gets it used daily
Every mug we make is ceramic, glossy and 11oz, printed on both sides so the personalising is not hiding round the back. It is dishwasher and microwave safe, so it survives being an everyday mug rather than a display piece. That matters more than the design for whether it gets used: a mug that cannot go through a dishwasher becomes a mug nobody reaches for.
Your name is printed after you order it. Order by 2pm on a weekday, or 10am on a Saturday, and it is posted the same day, tracked, with free UK delivery. Because it is printed specifically for you, a personalised mug is not covered by the standard 14-day change-of-mind return: once your name is on it, it is yours. If it arrives faulty or wrong, that is a different matter and we will sort it.
