Mid-century advertising style, redrawn: a fifties illustration with the sparkle and a line it would never have printed, in black and red. Retro sass on a mug.
A smiling housewife in a polka-dot dress carries a cake with far too many candles on it. Beside her, in period script and bold capitals: "Happy Birthday! You look... well."
Mid-century ad style, ink line and halftone, one spot of red running the length of the mug. No panel, no banner, nothing behind it: the words and the woman sit straight on the mug itself, wrapping right round from her cake to her compliment.
